When it comes to breaking the Arabian stereotype, half-Arabian mare Aallusive Angel is fast becoming an ambassador for the breed. During the recent Timberlane Farm Open Hunter/Jumper show held on July 10 in Shelbyville, she took home a total of seven ribbons and was the only Arabian at the show. Angel's owner, Hope Ellis-Ashburn reports, "When my daughter's POA gelding was unable to compete with her at the show, Angel quickly stepped up to the plate. She calmly took my eight year old daughter, Maddie Ashburn, who is a beginner rider around the arena in the Walk Hunt Seat Equitation and Walk Hunter Under Saddle classes effectively saving the day winning first place ribbons in both classes." In the show's large and competitive hunter classes she also took home the following ribbons with Hope: Sixth Place Beginner Hunter Under Saddle, Sixth Place Beginner Hunter Over Fences Warm-Up, Third Place Beginner Hunter Over Fences Course #1, Sixth Place Beginner Hunter Over Fences Course #2 and Third Place Open Warm-Up Over Fences against all horses and ponies at the Entire Show! Lynnbrook Celebration ~ A Danny Thompson and Lisa Abraham Event

On February 28, 2010 at Lynnbrook Training Stables in Lynnville, TN, Danny Thompson and Lisa Abraham hosted the Lynnbrook Celebration. The day started off with a presentation of stallions, then a fantastic Moroccan feast and an open forum about breeding and showing from Mario Colangelo and family of Starview Farm. Followed by a clipping and conformation demonstration.

The stallions presented were GF Omega, Jaleel ABC, Ricthers Shahpnez and SEL Marzuq.
Several club members were present as well as people from TN, SC, AR, WV and KY. Mario and his family started breeding Arabian horses about 8 years ago and have already owned or shown 2 Reserve National Sport Horse Champions, Las Vegas, Regional, Scottsdale, Egyptian Event and Class A winners. One mare they bred Khouraja is now owned by Al Shaqab Stud and will be presented in Europe by Michael Byatt. They are a very hands on family doing most of the training, showing and breeding decisions themselves.

Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the horses, food, information and new friendships made on this spectacular day. We have already had requests to do another “Celebration”. Special thanks to Lisa Abraham for her hard work and fantastic pictures.

Arabian Faax El Din Celebrates 34th Birthday

Faax El Din, (Fakher El Hamal x Kimbrook Kameo by AM Count Rascal), celebrated his 34th birthday on February 24. He is owned by Hope Ellis-Ashburn of Whitwell, TN and bred by William and Joanne Gutknecht of Minor Hill, TN. The 1976 gray gelding was successfully competed at the Class A level in both Arabian and open competitions in hunter and dressage. Certified 59.79% Crabbet/Blunt breeding, he was last competed at the age of thirty-one at the Crabbet Celebration XIV winning a first place ribbon with his young rider Maddie Ashburn in the Ponied Lead-line class where he was the oldest competing horse at the show. He has previously been a winner of high point awards from the Middle TN Arabian Horse Association and was inducted as a “Golden Equine” by the TN Farmer’s Cooperative on the occasion of his thirtieth birthday. He was indoctrinated as a show horse relatively late in life, at the age of eleven, when his then owners donated him to the MTAHA Gelding Give-away Contest in which his current owner won a lease on him at the tender age of sixteen and began his show career shortly thereafter. Twenty-years of contact later with many of those years now being in the capacity of owner, he now enjoys a close relationship with his human “mom.” Though for the most part retired, he is still occasionally lightly ridden and relishes his life in the pasture at the Ashburn farm where he amazes not only his owner but his farrier and veterinarian with his hardiness and longevity. Happy Birthday Faax!

It’s The Company You Keep

Of the top six horses finishing in the 2009 US National Junior Stallion class, five already held national titles including:

US National Champion Futurity Colt

Canadian National Champion Futurity Colt

Brazilian National Champion

US National Reserve Champion Futurity Colt

Scottsdale Supreme Chanpion

And now Marjestic WA in his debut year!

Sired by a living legend and out of a dam Line of champion producing AHW Aristocrat mares, Marjestic WA lives up to the promise. With a score of 358, he tied for fifth earning a Top Ten Junior Stallion title in the deepest class anyone can remember in years! That dam line is slow to mature and Marjestic is no exception, so this horse is only just getting started!

Trainer Jeff Schall says, “A common thread amongst legendary stallions is a dynamic expression with an innate sense of purpose. Marjestic just seems to know that he is one of the elites. He is arrogant yet personable, confident yet humble, refined yet full of strength and power. Although new on the show scene, he absolutely
exploded this year with Scottsdale, Regional and National Titles. It is so rare to find one individual that embodies so many of the breed’s standards. He literally is exceptional in so many ways, from top to bottom, front to back. Although this comes as no surprise since his sire is the illustrious Marwan Al Shaqab and his dam line possess three generations of aristocratic mares. Marjestic loves to be the center of attention. His effort and willingness is evident in everything he does and touches, always giving 100% his all!! With extreme anticipation we await his 2010 foals and looking forward to his return to the National spotlight.”

Marjestic WA stands and trains at Shada, Inc., Elk River, MN, under the direction of Jeff Schall and is managed by owner, Lisa East, of Arabians of Qiran Al Sa’dain, LLC, Brentwood, TN.

Marjestic will be making the seasonal move to Scottsdale, AZ on December 15th in order to meet and greet breeders and to prepare for the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show in which he will compete in February.

including an early bird discount on breedings booked prior to January 1, 2010.
